Pinwheel

Adi Venkatcsh, 8, of Grand Rapids blows on a pinwheel he received from the Sierra Club Saturday during Party for the Planet at the John Ball Zoo. The event included booths, demonstrations and displays from various conservation organizations along with preservation, green practicing individuals and businesses. Sierra Club was giving pinwheels out when a parent picked up postcards to send to their federal representatives and senators, asking to help support climate change.

I had so much fun shooting this assignment. Unfortunately there wasn't much time to spend, so I didn't concentrate on all the little dog shows going on around me. The rat on the kid in the bottom photo was very friendly and surprisingly cute. I've never been a fan of the idea of rats but this little guy was nice and I even pet him. This is why I love my job.

Okay, obviously these weren't taken recently, but I've been in photo organization mode lately and have been gathering my favorites from 2007. These are from a City Hope baptism service at Camp Geneva on Lake Michigan. The woman in the top photo was so excited after her baptism she threw down her crutches and started playing in the waves on shore. Child-like faith.
