Camping in the U.P., Eh?

Chris and I had amazing time camping in the Upper Peninsula for our two-year wedding anniversary. The weather was hot and beautiful. These are a few of my favorites from the trip. The first two are in Grand Marais, an adorable little northern Michigan town we biked around in. The last few are at Lake Superior.

For Jen's Dad...

One of my best friends got married earlier this month after loosing her dad last fall. A rose fell out of one of the bouquets and she tossed it into Lake Michigan in his memory. I know he was there in spirit :)

Boys in a Bucket

This little girl was keeping her distance from the boys. Another end of the summer carnival :)

Lucy...

I shot this on an assignment at a Christian horse camp. The lighting was harsh, middle of the day spotty but this little girl caught my eye hanging out on the ranch porch steps. She was so pretty, I just kept shooting her throughout the day. This was one of my favorites.

Two Summer Features

I shot these at a church carnival and neither were used in the paper so I felt like they needed to be on my blog. The girl on the right cracked me up. She was super nervous to play this pop bottle ring toss game and her expression is classic.

Time for Tea

The traditional tea ceremony for South China lasts for several hours with twelve rounds of sipping, smelling and slurping (yes slurping), small cups of steaming tea. I learned that slurping your tea is considered polite in the Chinese culture because you take in more air and this helps the flavor.

Betty Crocker Bride

Blueberry Hill

I drove out to Grand Haven to photograph this season's blueberry crop and the weather was beautiful. Munching on blueberries and hanging out with families who were dedicated to filling their cartons was one of those nice, hmmm...ahhhhh assignments. Breath of fresh air.

Keeping Cool

Loungin'

I hung out at East Kentwood High School last week to take some band camp pictures for an audio slide show me and another photographer did. I liked the shot of this kid taking a break from the symbols. If you think about it, band camp is quite strenuous :)
