Saying Goodbye-Marty the Mailman's Final Route

After 17 years in a Riverside area neighborhood, this mailman was re-routed by the Grand Rapids postal service. The community was so sad to see him go, they started a petition to keep him. I covered Marty's last route and witnessed gifts, tearful hugs, and stories...and was reminded why I love community journalism.

Three Years Married

Chris and I celebrated our wedding anniversary in Grand Haven last night to the sound of Lake Michigan waves, a beautiful sunset, and bottle of Lambrusco Blanco.

ArtPrize Comes to Town

Okay so as you can imagine I shot a billion frames of this mural installation but failed to send myself the detail shots I wanted to post (I always post from home, vs. work, because of the monitor differences, I'm sure you know what I mean). Anyhow, this wall of mosaic tile is one of the first pieces to be installed in for ArtPrize, a competition that will bring artwork from all over the country to Grand Rapids. Sculptures, paintings, galleries and various objects will be scattered throughout prominent areas in the city for the event.

Grand Rapids' First Electronic Dance Party
