Welcome Home...

"Can you imagine? Today I'm here. I can't believe it," said Darfur refugee Abdulkarim, on right, while testing out his new bed with roommate Alnill on Friday, March 20. Ann Dunlop of Bethany Christian Services helped Abdulkarim, Alnill, and their friend Abubakar move into their new apartment after picking them up at the Gerald R. Ford Airport. "We are here in this beautiful house with very kind people," Abdulkarim said. "I'm very happy."

Motley...

I'm working on a project about a Marine who came home from Iraq crippled from a gunshot in the neck. While spending the day with Josh and his fiance, Heather, I got to know Motley, their Pitbull-Boxer mix and he sort of stole the show. Josh can no longer talk, but Heather communicates with him by spelling the alphabet and pausing on letters when he clicks his tongue. This was how Josh named Motley, after one of his favorite bands, Motley Crue. Audio slideshow for this is in production.

California Dreamin

Chris and I took a week long trip to San Diego to visit our friend Rebecca and my grandparents. Highlights included fresh oranges in morning sun, sand dollars, jetty climbing, ankles in the Pacific, salsa dancing, amazing mexican food, vineyards, seal watching, and a trip to L.A. Rebecca showed true superwoman capabilities in driving us everywhere in San Diego county and her family, true hospitality.
